I have been ignoring my dear Marshmallow Dreams site lately as i have been focusing my attention on my photography and graphioc design site, http://mphotographress.com! Take a peek! Website was created from scratch and i think its a great way to showcase what im up to! In addition, I finally met my first and only related-by-blood cousin yesterday – Little Ava. SO CUTE

I’ve been rather absent lately, OBVIOUSLY, as my last post was quite some time ago.

The quick update?

Spring 2010 yielded nine baby goats in total, five boys, four girls; I’m keeping one doeling, Falafel who was a triplet out of Waffle. Twins Bridget and Gidget still are looking for homes as is Falafel’s sister Taziki, all the boys have left as did one mom, so goal for winter 2010 is just five goats; Falafel, Waffle, Hula, Picante and Acorn. I’m still working at the paper like crazy, writing real estate offers, battling the dirty dishes in the sink and hoping that my FREAKING TOMATOES will turn red, despite the weird cool weather. Garden is flourishing otherwise, as are windowsill plants. Updated photos soon, I pinkie swear!

On a more exciting note, my website design knowledge has increased about 100x since we last…spoke and I have been feverishly working away at two sites; my personal budding photography business, Mphotographress.com and an online business endeavor with Josh, MendoList.com – the first of which I just finally completed today, the latter, well, it’s still in progress.

MORE BABY GOATS!

Yesterday – Hula (Acorn’s mom!) gave birth to two baby bucks making the 2010 total come to three bucks, no does. Oh well – they are all still super cute All the does this year were bred to a boer goat and some of their markings are impressivley strong in the gene pool. One of Hula’s boys was the traditional white body with a brown head – but he has some nubian markings still – including the white ears and little white “hat” that all my goats seem to get as well. The other is solid brown which isnt as common as the white body/brown head combo of his brother. He was way bigger – and came out second. Thankfully she’s doing well – as are they. I’m still working on names, but mainly, I’m glad everyone is well

Acorn gave birth today to one darling baby buck. He is huge, she is not and she was a total trooper through her first birthing ever. I’m sleepy, she’s sleepy, little Scrat is feisty and is up and drinking already and is happy to be out I’m sure. She went into full labor around 4 p.m. this afternoon and he was out on the ground just after 5 p.m.

This is Acorn. .... she's watching me watch her NOT having babies.

and I just returned to the couch after my second midnight check on goat-whose-ready-to-birth #1. NOTHING. I’m tired. She looks tired too. Hopefully tomorrow will bring babies and I’ll get to put up some pix!

As spring comes into full swing, baby goats are on the horizon! … i’ll keep ya’ll posted! three of the five does are preggy and we should be expecting babies by the end of the month!!

I have good news!

my garlic which i wrote off as dead after last year’s puddle-submerged bed in which they were planted – i noticed earlier this morning that low and behold – the garlic’s a growin’ and its growin’ strong! WAAHOOOO!!!

GARLIC!

i know its not uber exciting – but they’re alive! and growing! and green! yay!

also, my window sill in the kitchen has become my other locale for green goodies:

abandoned asparagus fern from a friend’s mom im trying to nurse back to health but i think im loosing the battle as its shedding all of its spikes

sweet yet weird cactus fro walmart sitting atop a candy cane container

yellow crocus from the farmers market

tomato seeds that sprouted in fall and mostly died over the winter

(wobble bottle opener!)

pepper seeds that sprouted in fall and mostly died over the winter

spider plant on counter that happily grows just about anywhere (and a little small striped house plant inside it too)

and a green hanging plant given as a gift to me from someone who bought an animal at the livestock auction at the redwood empire fair a few years ago chills above the window!

I have made tons of lemon curd — heres the recipe in one of my daring bakers challenges — but i just came across this tasty kitchen recipe for meyer lemon sorbet (i <3 you p.w.!!)
